Now that I am older and do not have an oven, I have been cast aside to smaller cooking jobs for the Holidays. Some of this makes me happy and some doesn’t, close to sad. We no longer have a large home and room for family to stay, so once again we have been cast aside (yea). That is totally not true. We so loved having all the family at our beach home. Truth be told, by this time, it would have been very difficult for many family members to make the stairs.
Now for the good part, I now make the deviled eggs, crab dip, and clam dip, and bring the chips, crackers and veggies for said dips. I don’t have to clean one large turkey, or like several years ago, two birds. I no longer need to make the dressing or come up with something different for Christmas. RR opened the fridge a while ago and gasped! What is that smell!?? Oh, I said, just deviled eggs, crab dip and clam dip, can you smell it when you open the fridge? LOL
Well, I hope all had a wonderful and safe Christmas and that you were able to be with family and/or dear friends.
Our time off is Tuesday through Thursday this week so we will have a day to rest before working on Friday. Next week will be great too. Only one day after Sunday and that will be Thursday.
As we have for many years, we will have dinner on New Year’s Eve with Larry and Debbie Campbell. But this year Debbie and I will not be able to sit in the back seat and catch up on gossip and new baby talk. In the past, we have had the hour to and from Galveston to chat, but this year, since we have moved, we will not have the chance. But I know Debbie, she will have hundreds of pictures of that beautiful new granddaughter.
I hope you have a New Year full of Love and Laughter, and for those of us that have lost loved ones this year, keep them in your heart and memories forever.
