Everyone knows how hard it is to keep a secret. How about assigning over 150 school aged students with that task for 10 days! Well, that’s just what needed to happen as our campus was abuzz with excitement to celebrate our beloved principal Annette Dailey. Mrs. Dailey was named Texas 2017 National Distinguished Principal (NDP) by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA). The surprise was revealed to all staff (and thus, students) ahead of time to prepare for the formal announcement.

A reception was held May 22 where our cheerleaders cheered, our choir sang and each class prepared a brief performance to pay tribute to Mrs. Dailey in their special way. Banners were created, skits were performed and love notes were written all in celebration to honor Mrs. Dailey’s commitment and dedication to our community and the success of students in GISD. We will be rooting for Mrs. Dailey as she represents our school, district, and community at the national level in October.
