Trick-O-Treat

By Kelly Moad
The celebrations last all month…willing Fall to finally spread some cooler breezes on our long-lasting hot summer. Pumpkin spice fills the air and every shop or cafe you enter. Halloween is approaching and the kiddos begin pondering their costume choices. Halloween originated as a celebration and remembrance of the faithful departed, including saints and martyrs. It has grown into a festive holiday for trick-o-treating, costume parties, and carving or painting jack-o-lanterns.

Nearly every school activity has something to do with fall, pumpkins, bats, or candy corn. Pumpkin bread and pumpkin spice lattes are a must. Cool fronts begin to push through every few days. Local establishments and churches host Trunk-o-Treat and Fall Festivals. And the much awaited Halloween Night gives us that last opportunity to dress up in our choice of superhero, villain, ghoulish creature, or happy princess. The candy lasts for weeks on the countertop. All the while bringing October to a close…leading us one step closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Take it slowly though…don’t rush the holidays. Enjoy the fun times with family and friends. Happy Halloween!
