Voter Registration Certificates are in the Mail!

GcountyCheryl E. Johnson, PCC
Galveston County Tax Assessor Collector
After months of stops and starts with the Secretary of State Texas Election Administration Management (TEAM) system upgrades, nearly 179,000 2016-2017 Voter Registration Certificates will soon arrive in Galveston County mailboxes. The blue and white certificates will be valid from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017. The certificate may not be forwarded by the US Postal Service, thus, if a voter moved since the December 2013 mail out without updating the information with the Voter Registration Department or DPS, it will be returned to the County Tax Office.

“We are required by State law to place voters whose certificates are returned in suspense status and mail a confirmation notice between January 1 and March 1. Those wishing to vote in the March Democrat or Republican primary elections need to update their information no later than February 1, 2016, to insure no issues are encountered at the polls,” stated Johnson. Voters who do not receive the new blue and white voter registration certificate or the letter of confirmation by mid-January should contact the Voter Registration Department toll free at 1-888-976-2280 or email at [email protected].
