Comeaux and O’Brien Share First Place
Playing the Michael Comeaux designed gold Par 3 course, where all the tee shots are 135 yards out, Shannon O’Brien birdied the tough 5th hole to tie Comeaux for first place on 8/12. Dabneyesque Harrison birdied the 9th hole to finish solo third with a 32. Head golf instructor Mike Mitchell tied David “Ace” Buchanan at 34. Terry Millender, only two weeks after his brilliant 28, fell to a 35 and was two shots ahead of Hoss Strimple.
Cash Cow O’Brien Ties VanZandt on 8/14
Lucky Shannon O’Brien birdied the first hole and double bogeyed the last for a five over par 32 to tie erratic putting Mike VanZandt from the Turquoise tees on Thursday 8/14. Lee Hays, back on the links after a twelve year hiatus, chipped in from off the green on the 3rd hole for a par that won him a share of the skins pot. The Dabtician tied Terry Millender and John Milby at 35.
Occasional Golfer Michael Comeaux Edges Harrison and VanZandt
Local contractor Michael Comeaux, limited to less than five hours of golf per week, birdied two of the last four holes on 8/19 to beat perennial also rans Mike VanZandt and Dabney Harrison by a single shot. Comeaux and the Dabbler both birdied the difficult eighth hole to allow VanZandt to split the skins pot with Comeaux with the only par on the 7th hole.
Patti Atkins Skins Grizzled Ranch Regulars
Patti Atkins, who has only played golf for a little over a year, birdied the first hole on 8/21 for a share of the skins pot. Joining Patti in the money were Michael Comeaux with a pair of skins and Ace Buchanan with the fourth skin of the day. Comeaux’s two over par 29 won first place. Buchanan was second at 32.
