What to write about?

GO-0926By Georgia Osten,
As I sit here each week with a story to write, I’m always in a bit of a quandary on what exactly to write about. My first instinct is to write about something that recently happened, because it’s not that my life is all that exciting all the time. First of all, I’ve decided that this is the “Year of the Dentist” for me. I’m someone who has a phobia against any kind of dentistry, I’ve seen my limit this year. It actually began with a root canal over a year ago in June. I had so many indications that this was NOT A GOOD ROOT CANAL, but I chose to ignore all the signs. Finally, after so much pain, ibuprofen every 5-6 hours, I called the Endodontist to get an appointment. Naturally, as all pains go, this pain was during Hurricane Harvey. My appointment could not be made until conditions in the League City/Webster areas became travelable. Long story/short, the second root canal/same tooth was not successful. Next stop, oral surgery or remove the dang tooth.

As if that wasn’t enough, I scheduled cosmetic crowns – four of them – Holy Cow! When is it going to stop? Thank goodness they don’t charge me for the arms of the chairs I squeeze in an attempt to escape. My husband is not impressed, he is not sympathetic, he’s had everything done to his mouth you can imagine.

I think it’s payback for what I did to my son when he was 10 or so, scheduling filling 4 cavities in one sitting. I traumatized the poor kid. Twenty or so years later, he refuses to go to a dentist!

I have a fantastic dentist! You don’t even feel the numbing shots. In fact, prior to the first crown, I asked his assistant when he was going to numb me. “He already did!” Yay!
This isn’t what I was going to write about, but Yay again, I have another story for next week, equally as exciting.
