Where are my keys?

By Georgia Osten
I’ve already told you this is my favorite time of the year – it’s the shopping and it’s the going places and it’s the family, it’s all these things rolled into one. I missed the Nutcracker Market last year, so this year, I was DOUBLE excited to go. I bought the tickets for all of us from Randall’s, and the girls picked me up from my son’s house where I was babysitting The Littles. Yes, I planned to abandon PawPaw so I could attend the Market. I bribed my grandson into coming over to assist PawPaw. No bribing necessary, he was more than willing.

About 3 years ago, we had so many people, it took two cars to get us all there, so I drove mine and my daughter had a group of people in hers. We pulled into the parking lot and parked next to one another. Everyone began piling out of the cars, me too. After gathering our purses and comfortable shoes, we began to head off to NRG to get in line. My sister-in-law caught my attention and asked if I was going to close my car door. Duh, going back to close the car, I noticed I had left the keys in the ignition and the car was still running. Time to slow down.

My trips into town are precious now, I don’t have all those days off with my new job. I had an agenda. I stopped at the car wash first, then Hobby Lobby, then WalMart, then headed off to Bay Area Blvd. and Home Goods. Finally found a parking spot, gathered my purse and proceeded to exit the car. Walking away from the car, I remember I need to hit the lock on the keys. Oops, no keys! I had done it again. I hurried back to the car and there were the keys, in the ignition and the car was running.

Everyone be safe out there, keep your wits about you, and watch out for the other guy. It’s going to get crazy out there!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
