Won’t you be my neighbor?

By Georgia Osten
It was one of those Chamber of Commerce weekends. All the locals gathering out on the beach in the sunshine, sort of reminded me of summer…it was mainly locals, the kind with nothing else to do but gather and enjoy adult beverages and talk about who knows what! We were occupied with the Littles this weekend, that’s the twins and their Big Brother, Pierce. It seems the twins forgot what the beach is all about. PawPaw and I try to get them outside as much as possible. It makes for excellent appetites and ready-to-take-naptimes. But, this weekend, they weren’t too crazy about beach time – Worried about getting their feet wet and/or sandy. Big brother, on the other hand, loved it. “Can we go swimming?”

I managed to build a fortress of chairs around the Christmas Tree to ward off little 19 month old boys. It worked for the most part. But, yes, Charlotte, they do know how to climb on chairs and many times they were caught reaching through a chair to grab an ornament. The main thing Riggs was fascinated with was the plug to the Christmas tree. After getting zapped the first time, we thought he would be done with it, but NOOOOOOOOOOOO. We figure he’ll be an electrician when he grows up.

They’re getting a bit heavy and it’s harder to manage up and down stairs holding them, so we let them practice on the outside stairs. A Lot! C’mon, it’s good exercise.

Here’s a big Shout Out to our newest neighbors/friends. We probably have the smallest neighborhood in all of Crystal Beach, just 3 streets, all named after What his name’s daughters (something we used to know).

Welcome to Gerry and Chuck, and Jeff and his trusty Lab, Remington.

It’s always a lovely day in the neighborhood.

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
