Young Farmers Giving Back

The Young Gardeners Program at Crenshaw School has been active since the beginning of the school year. The gardeners have learned horticulture and how to cultivate different crops. They also participate in an after-school program giving back to the community. On Friday, under the guidance of Program Coordinator Larry Chapman, and members of Keep Bolivar Beautiful, they cleaned up the garden area in front of the Joe Faggard Community Center. The farmers will replant the entire garden with new flowers.

The Young Gardeners also host a monthly “Community Day” at the school. Members of the community can volunteer to help the young gardeners complete various projects related to gardening. Last month’s project was to build a hot house. They meet at the school the first Friday Saturday of every month from 9-11 am, beginning in February.

Thank you to our Young Gardeners and supporters for teaching the youth of today how to sustain our farms for tomorrow.

We had such a wonderful time out there with the kids and Boliver Bloomers!
Quick CORRECTION–we meet the 1st Saturday of every month from 9am to 11am at the school garden for our community day events.
We always have coffee and a bite for breakfast for all, as well as wonderful projects and casual connecting with our community friends.
Hope to see you at the next one! Which will be Feb. 1st, 2020, we’re skipping January because of school break.
