Saturday was a full day of baseball at Peninsula Sports Park. We welcomed 3 teams from East Chambers Youth Baseball to play our Sluggers Division teams. The day began with the Bolivar Bulldogs taking on EC Gold in an exciting and well-played game. Highlights include Dalian DeWet catching a fly ball and hitting a home run in the 5th inning, Xavier Carlos had two good hits, and Anthony Diaz made his debut on the Bulldogs with two good hits. EC Gold answered with a strong defense and strong hitting giving them a 5-3 Win over our Bulldogs. Bulldog game balls went to Xavier Carlos and Anthony Diaz.

As the sunshine made its way through the clouds, our T-Ballers took the field for their third game of the season. The kids showed up ready to play but the Gulls were a few players short, so the Cardinals did not hesitate to lend a few players to their team. At that point they were all playing as one big team out there, playing to have fun. Every kid played with their hearts and had a wonderful time. The players have learned that it’s not always about winning at this level but having fun and developing a love for the game.

Next up was another Slugger game with our Bolivar Bull Sharks hosting the EC Green team the Bandits in a close nail-biter that the EC Bandits took 4-2. The afternoon continued with our Major League Bull Reds taking the Win over the Blue Marlins in another exciting game. These kids and coaches have been with PSP since our opening and have grown with us to develop skills and excellent sportsmanship which shows on the field every week. Credit goes to coaches for this level of play, Coaches Cody Hammond and Angela lead the Bull Reds and Coach Troy Blake and Brenda Alexander lead the Blue Marlins…great job Coaches.

The final game of the day was a combination of our 2 Bolivar Slugger teams against the EC Gray team the Wolves. Bolivar was finally able to get a WIN over EC taking them 6-3. The game was exciting with the kids showing off excellent batting skills as well as fielding. Bulldog Game Balls went to Dalian DeWet for batting 2 for 2 with one double almost stretching to a home run, and to Caden Thomas for his exciting catch of a hard-hit pop fly which ended the game, leading to a well-deserved victory celebration.

We are proud of all our kids and the coaches who donate their time to teach their teams baseball skills and good sportsmanship. Join us again next Saturday, April 9, games begin at 11am.
