Bay Vue United Methodist Church is hosting an Appreciation Luncheon on February 7th at 11:30 AM in Fellowship Hall. All volunteers who help at Second Going Resale Shop and Food Truck distribution are to be honored with a special meal. People who are interested in volunteering to assist at either place are also invited to this event. Selfless folk have provided needed services in our Bolivar Community for many years.

* Sea Turtle Patrol TrainingSea Turtle Patrol Training

Time: 9:00 AM

During the sea turtle nesting season, volunteers patrol 72 miles of beach each morning from April 1st through July 15th in order to protect nesting sea turtles and the eggs they lay. Bolivar is broken up into two routes, both driven by UTV. We do ask that volunteers be able to commit to the entire season, and at least one route a week. If you are interested in volunteering, you must attend a mandatory training session at the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Station from 9 A.M to 1 P.M. February 18th, 2017. The 2017 Mardi Gras Lighthouse Parade fun starts Friday Night, February 24 at the F.O.E. 3719 Eagles Lodge at 8PM. ROARING 20's CRAZY HAT PARTY. It's time to dig way back into your closet and put together your best Roaring 20's Crazy Hat ensemble to win fabulous prizes and special limited edition 2017 Mardi Gras Beads. The Lighthouse Krewe MARDI GRAS PARADE is held each year on the Saturday before Fat Tuesday, traveling down Hwy 87 to the delight of countless visitors lining both sides of the road. The first parade was held in 1991 as Queen Anne Willis rode in style as Constable A.C. Hilton drove his convertible through the subdivisions of Crystal Beach, calling on all to join in the festivities.

The 27rd Annual Lighthouse Krewe Mardi Gras Parade will be February 25, 2017. This year’s theme is “Roaring 20s & ALL THAT JAZZ”. The Lighthouse Krewe ask all floats to throw beads or candy. Please contact Anne Willis or Bobbey White @ 409-771-5170 if you need any information where to buy beads. Parade will begin promptly at 11:30 am at the Avocet Subdivision, WEST of CoCoNuTs & EAST of the Golf Course. Registration Fee is $10.00. Lighthouse Krewe Members are Free.
