Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 6-7-22

By Captain Bryan Brawner
Right now you will find some of the best fishing of the year in Galveston East Bay. Water conditions are excellent and there are more windows of opportunity with lighter winds. Good catches of speckled trout are coming from most of the mid bay reef areas over shell. Hanna’s and Pepper reefs have had good reports this week. Keying on slick activity and active bait can narrow down your search areas on a reef.

In Texas City, the rocks are holding some good trout and redfish. For West Bay, the north side around Greens has reports of holding trout and redfish. Both the Bolivar Surf and on the Galveston side, the surf around Jamaica Beach have been good on calmer days. Water clarity has been the key there.

I have moved my boat to Lake Conroe and am offering guided charters there now for channel catfish, crappie, and hybrids. Lots of fun and catching!

Crappie were slow last week but are improving as they move to newer brush piles. Channel catfish are excellent and can be caught around tire and rock piles. Some are still biting at the bulkheads. Hybrids are scattered some in smaller schools.

I have weekday specials available now available for my readers and past customers of classes and charters.

I will continue with updated report content from myself and several other contributors for East Bay and for other areas of the bay system.
