I think I said that last week. Anyway, here we sit in our swingin’ house! We’re each on our computers. Tom’s working on CB Local News, I’m thinking of writing my “Crab Trap” Leigh. When we heard we’d probably NOT be a direct hit, we decided to stay. Sunday was spent preparing. We brought all the plants in, loaded stuff in the garage and the outside shower. We tied down all the outdoor furniture, stashed the brand-new golf cart in the garage and we have the car and the truck underneath the house as far as they’ll fit.
Went out yesterday to see the beach, but the tide was already up to the dunes. Had a little get-together with the other neighbors who are staying. We don’t have a lot of permanent neighbors, or weekenders for that matter, but we’re checking to be sure all are alright. According to the news, Beryl made landfall at about 4am Monday morning around Matagorda. We’ve lost power already, the partial-house generator is running. The bed was shaking so bad, I finally relented and got up to see what was happening.
A not-so-typical weekend, but really fun. We went to see the Spazmatics at Margaritaville on Saturday evening. An 80’s band, kinda nerdy, but fun to get out and see what the rest of the peninsula does for fun.
So many people down for this 4th of July weekend. Wouldn’t you know we’d have our first, very early, hurricane of the season on this weekend. The crowds trying to get the heck outta here on Sunday were atrocious! Bumper to Bumper. Hopefully, everyone was on their best behavior and practicing patience.
I keep looking out the windows to make sure our neighbor’s outdoor furniture hasn’t decided to take flight. A newby-owner to the neighborhood left all their old bed pillows out for garbage pickup on Monday then headed home to Dallas. Wonder what in the world he was thinking? I’d bet $$ we’ll have no garbage pickup on Monday.
If you stayed, be safe. If you left, be safe.
We’ll keep the lights on for you!

Prayers for everyone’s continued safety 🙏 Love The Coles
Thanks for the report Georgia. Glad you guys are okay.
Kim and I bugged out and are glad we did since it appears a twister hit the storage facility across from the RV park where we live on North Cove St. The doors were ripped off of 13 units but ours was spared. Go figure.
I am writing about the storm for next week’s edition of CBLN. Anyone with information they would like me to include about the event, please let me know.
Also, our son’s crew is coming down to help folks with clean-up and repair, so feel free to contact me on that as well. Kim and I will head back down soon and are eager to help out with the restoration.
Keep us posted and best of luck to all!
