Bright and Beautiful!

By Cindy Clay Srader
This room will bring a smile to anyone’s face. This light filled room with the wonderful views has been designed to use the view as the artwork. The white walls and light chairs do not take away from anything. The punch of color in the coffee table and the pale aqua of the sofa adds color and actually draws the eye to the view. Using the reed shades and the natural fiber rug keeps it simple and elegant at the same time. For privacy these shades can be lowered. If you use shades like this they now come with liners so you will have more light control and privacy. There is not any artwork that can compete with what God has given us! Just enjoy life!

HOW TO”…get ready for summer nights

I love the look of these votive holders. These nautical holders are made to look like pilings. All it takes to make these are different lengths of a tree trunk. That would be the hardest part of this project. To make the holes in the top of the posts use the attachment for a drill that will cut a hole in a door. The deeper the hole the more protection the votives would have. I think that I would have it pretty deep and use the glass votive holders so no worries about the wind. When you have your holes done to your satisfaction, the next step is wrapping the three with rope using fast acting glue that will hold it together tightly. What a neat idea for either a centerpiece or lighting your porch at night. Watch for those high winds we get sometimes, but using the glass votives will help. I guess I am lucky because the way my house is situated I can sit on my porch even with the winds and it doesn’t bother me! Hope you give this a try and let me know how it looks! (2014-02-11)
