Build It and They Will Come

Well, sort of…what I really mean is, if we were still in the City, would our grandchildren really give us a call and say, “Grandma, PawPaw, can we come visit you this weekend?” I think not. Tickled beyond belief, but scared as all get out, my daughter and son-in-law had to go through a lot of soul searching to agree to these brand new drivers trekking all the way from League City down to the beach. We prayed a lot and watched the clock until they arrived early enough to get in on the game night we had been planning since earlier on in the week. We had invited some good friends, ordered pizza and began playing games until the wee hours. Nothing like a house full of sleepy teenagers and some older folks.

Setting up on the beach early the next morning, Dannay’s, some cokes and a golf cart and you have it made for a fun-filled day. Oh yes, don’t forget the kayaks! Actually, all you really need with teenagers is a golf cart, just fill it up and let ’em go. Dinner was cooked for us that night by our company/grandkids – chicken enchiladas – yum!
A day off from us was mandated by “the parents,” so the next day, they all met over in Galveston’s Schliterbahn, but they returned hungry and ready for a bonfire on the beach with hot dogs, s’mores and some fireworks. More games, we played Mexican Train from 12 to the Blanks.

Their last day was our Poker Run day and they were just too tired to “hang” with us for that trip, so we sent some weary grandkids home to rest up for the next time. I can’t wait – Love y’all to the moon and back!
