Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 11-9-21

By Captain Bryan Brawner
We are now in the pattern of getting at least one cold front a week which will last for a couple months. For the good days between fronts, not many changes to add for now. With cooler water temps and lower tides, fish will concentrate in deeper channels of marsh drain areas and around active bait and birds in the eastern end of the bay.

Fishing Report, 10-26-2021
Lots better catches are being reported from East Bay with jetties still producing big reds. Flounder are also being caught along south shoreline marsh areas, along the intracostal, and back in canals. Action under the birds will continue in the eastern end of the bay but there are still a lot of smaller trout and some gafftops. There are some keepers but you need to key more on active bait and slicks than under the actual birds. Sometimes top waters can produce larger fish on the outer edges from where the birds are diving. On higher tides, waders have been getting some good results hanging tight to grass on the shorelines of the eastern end of the bay.

New Flounder Rules to be aware of this year:
Daily Bag- 5, Min inches- 15
November 1 through December 14 the bag limit is 0. I deleted my thoughts on this as it is a family friendly forum.

I am making some needed website changes so my my websites will be down the next few weeks. Just text or email for information.

I am going to be running some fresh water trips starting sometime this fall at Lake Conroe. I will put out more information on that when I have all of my facilities and equipment set up. North wind and low tides won’t hinder any fishing there! Its easy access with no waiting on the ferry or traffic stalls! I will be targeting Bass, Crappie, Hybrid striper, and of course catfish. Catfish are a good thing there!

For those that have taken my class, we are in fall patterns with salinity at normal levels throughout the bay. The Fall pattern we went over is in full swing now. Don’t forget to ask for your included updates for bay and surf fishing before you go out.

On the water class/seminars are one of the best investments you will make to further your success and knowledge of Galveston East Bay.

For an extra added value now we are offering classes run from the client’s boat where we download data into your GPS as we run the class throughout East Bay.
