Captain Bryan’s Fishing Report, 12-14-21

By Captain Bryan Brawner
There are really no changes in my report now as the weather pattern has remained stable. So the fishing conditions will revolve around the days between windy cold fronts. Reds are good on the beachfront and in marsh areas and canals on then east end of the bay. Wading is producing specks and reds on incoming tides around marsh areas and flats near deeper water.

The fishing pattern will remain the same now through December unless we just have some unseasonably cold weather for several days. Fish will be under the birds working on the eastern end of the bay and along some of the north shoreline areas close to scattered shell. The main thing will be to key on active bait. Wading should be good on areas adjacent to deeper water. Fish will also remain in marsh areas in the deeper channel bends and entrances. For those who venture to Sun Oil channel in the winter, we might have a problem this year, like we needed one more thing to screw up the bay any worse. They will be dredging out and opening the closed entrance to Sun Oil for oil drilling activities. That will really hurt one of the best protected areas for fish to survive winter in the bay. I will post updates on that as I find out more information.

I had an article a while back on the closing of Rollover. Now that time has passed, during the holidays I will be putting an update to the article with findings and observations from several guides and local long time anglers.

I am making some needed website changes so my my websites will be down the next few weeks. Just text or email.

For those that have taken my class, we are in late fall patterns with salinity at normal levels throughout the bay. The Late Fall pattern we went over is in full swing now. Don’t forget to ask for your included updates for bay and surf fishing before you go out.

Special through December on East Bay classes from your boat… Coordinates downloads on sd or mini sd chip included!

On the water class/seminars are one of the best investments you will make to further your success and knowledge of Galveston East Bay.

For an extra added value now we are offering classes run from the client’s boat where we download data into your GPS as we run the class throughout East Bay.

I am going to be running some fresh water trips starting sometime early this spring at Lake Conroe. I will put out more information on that when I have all of my facilities and equipment set up. I am working on scouting now and have over 200 new spots marked on my GPS. North wind and low tides won’t hinder any fishing there! Its easy access with no waiting on the ferry or traffic stalls! I will be targeting Bass, Crappie, Hybrids, and of course catfish. Catfish are a good thing there!
