This weekend, the Annual Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department BBQ Cookoff brought the community together under warm and sunny skies. Fourteen teams fired up the pits to compete in categories like beans, chicken, ribs, and brisket. Adding a little variety, Friday night featured fajitas, and Saturday morning kicked off with Bloody Marys. While the teams cooked, visitors inside the station enjoyed full-fixin BBQ plates served up by the PB VFD. Silent auction and raffle items, ranging from fishing trips and artwork to outdoor furniture and cakes, were on display.
After all the judging, Big Daddy Larry Flanagan entertained the crowd as the auctioneer-extraordinaire. Throughout the auction, winners in each category were announced, greeted by cheers and high-fives. Thanks to all who participated, making this event a success for the community.
