Online Cloud Storage, a silver lining

by Erinn Berge/Hwy87Media.com
There are still a lot of folks out there that are not taking advantage of the simple technology that could make their life so much easier. How about The Cloud.  Heard of it? I have 3 simple steps for you to follow with me. To be clear, here is a  WIKI definition ; Cloud storage is a model of networked online storage where data is stored in virtualized pools of storage which are generally hosted by third parties.   Did I lose you?  Try this example.

My husband and I work together in the same room, on different computers. On a daily basis, we need to share, edit  and collaborate office files.   I have tried a few different “cloud’ storage files, but there is one that I REALLY LIKE!   Google Drive, see below the simple steps to share and edit your files online.

If you don’t have one yet, get a google email address.  Believe me I didn’t want to either when I first was approached with the idea.  I was so happy with my Yahoo!  But you don’t have to use your google email, just think of it like a login, so you can use world-class FREE services with wild abandon.

  • This is a very simple process, go here… and sign up.
  • ***Now that you have a way to login. You can use the Google Drive right through your browser.
  • Go to Google.com, look at the top menu bar, click on Drive

You can share and simultaneously edit  all different kinds of files with your co-workers or anyone for that matter. From documents to spread sheets to presentations,  Google gives you 5 MB of space for free (which is quite  a bit). Think of the ways our community leaders could benefit from something like this…and thus our community benefits as well!
