What a relaxing and satisfying Thanksgiving we had! I took Wednesday off because I was a little stressed. No reason, that’s just the way I get. We had fewer people than we anticipated due to illness in the family, the day before Thanksgiving a couple of our guests had to leave for Uvalde. We pulled it together though. Rick came over on Wednesday evening to stuff the turkey and the turkey went into the oven by 7 the next morning. Happily, our remaining guests came over early so we could begin playing some long overdue games. Early dinner happened before 4 in the afternoon, then more games, then three different kinds of pies: Cherry, Apple & Pecan. I bought extra Rubbermaid before so we could send home leftovers.

I did something I hardly ever do. The next day, Black Friday, I caught the 9:00 ferry and determinably made my way into town. Yes, I went All the Way! First stop, car wash. No special deals there, in fact, I guess they changed owners and now my $12 wash costs $15.

Among my many stops, HEB, Sam’s, Kirklands, Home Goods, James Avery, Hobby Lobby and Dillards. Oh, what a great time I had. I guess I made it home by 5 in the evening. Exhausted!

Saturday was a whirlwind day of decorating. I got the tree done and kind of arranged everything to get to it again the next day. After church and after a very nice breakfast at The Sunflower Bakery & Café we headed back home.

Next job, tackling the loft. I used to put garland all around the loft and down the stairs, but this year, I decided to do something different. Friday, while at Hobby Lobby, I found the cutest wooden silver star garland. I strung lights and garland and tied them off here and there with my ridiculous collection of Christmas stockings. That collection was entirely unplanned, I can’t imagine how I ended up with so many.

I had to stop when I finally ran out of garland. Since I didn’t have enough to get down the stairs, I sat down and ordered more from Hobby Lobby. Thank goodness it won’t arrive until around Wednesday, so I can rest!

I so love the Christmas holidays, I just had to decorate even though we’re leaving Texas a bit before Christmas. Watch out Tampa, here we come!

I hope you all had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. Enjoy those turkey sandwiches!
