(May-8-2012) Is Beach casual not your style? Who says you can’t be as formal as you want while still having the relaxing feeling of the beach. This dining room uses the formality of the beautiful custom chandelier along with the upholstered his and her chairs. By combining this with the wicker chairs and the painted table it all works to bring the feeling “up a notch” while still keeping it beachy. Notice the hemp rug that brings the natural feel and comfort of the great outdoors. It is the incongruity of the mixing of the formal with the casual the makes this room feel like home. By adding the seashells to the built-in bookcase and the wonderful mermaid picture on the wall, there is no doubt that you are at the beach. Once again by pulling the colors out of the fabric on the chairs the walls, cabinets and tablecloth add to the overall look. Hum, I think I need to get busy redecorating!
