All endearing qualities of the beach jump into all your senses. Even though I live here now, I am still aware of the wonderful salty smell as the earth heats up and I’m driving in my golf cart or walking to or from the beach. Or, just this morning when I woke up and found my husband sitting outside on the deck. The air was so cool and inviting, he already had the umbrellas raised and I couldn’t wait for my morning coffee and seat up at the rail.
I don’t know if you had a chance to hang out at the beach this weekend, but Saturday, the breeze was so vibrant, I’m sure it was just as warm, but you hardly felt the heat. Many games of washers were played out in the sunshine, hardly a need for sunscreen. Now Sunday was a different story, hot hot hot! Keeping under that canopy and drinking plenty of water, but the gulf water was cooler, go figure.
Also, don’t miss the full moons – the next one will be in another 26 days or so. But, always the stars, what a natural light show. We play a game with the flocks of pelicans these days, it’s called “odd or even.” Next time you see a huge bunch of them, try to guess odd or even, then take the time to count them. It’s usually half ‘n half. No fair with the obvious, easily counted, like 3 or 4 … be creative!
