Life in General

We are old! For fifty-six years we have enjoyed our homes and yard work. That is, most weekends, we were working on the boat or in our yard. Absolutely nothing gave me more pleasure than the “Yard of The Month” sign in our yard. Now, we have a house again, both the house and the yard are brand new. New, as in lots of weeds, hard sand and red clay. In order to put the solar lights in the yard to show our street numbers, RR had to use the drill with a bit just to get a hole in the ground. That is so wrong! Then, ya add to that, it is an acre and a half to edge. Not because there is a rule, that is just what I do. Remember the half acre on Boyt? I made sure it was edged weekly. Now, it takes almost a week to edge all this. I run out of sweat bands before I finish!

I seem to think I must have flowers, especially daylilies and hibiscus. Of course, I have absolutely nowhere to put them in the ground. They are in very large pots until the yard is ready for them. I could be dead by then. We had the young man that cut down and trimmed our trees come back and talk about leveling the yard and getting grass for half of the front yard. He texted back a few days later with the bid and cost of labor. I guess he did not call as he knew I would scream and cry on the phone. Smart man.

The good thing that has happened is RR finally said I could have gutters. The roof line leaves much to be desired when it comes to designing flower beds, so we had gutters installed. Do you think it would rain so I could adjust my bed planning? Of course not. When it did rain, it was about 3 or more inches, but that was good, I now have French drains and I did not have to dig the holes. Yea!

Have a great week and love one another.
