Lyndon Johnson Returns to Play Ranch; Golf Game Still Dead

By Mike VanZandt
Lyndon Johnson journeyed from the Adirondack Mountains of New York State to play in the Tuesday Par 3 tournament at the Ranch and enjoyed seeing his lifelong friend Brent Smith’s one over par 28 edge Michael Comeaux by one shot. David Buchanan shared the skin’s pot with Smith with a nice birdie on the fifth hole. Comeaux kept Mike VanZandt out of the money by chipping in for a birdie on the fourth hole to trivialize VanZandt’s fine tee shot to 2 feet. Two days earlier, Jason Pettit lofted a wedge to 4 feet to quickly end a playoff in the Sunday Scramble. Lance Ferguson benefited from playing with Pettit and Eagle Point ace Cody Clifton and to cash in his second consecutive scramble. Head golf pro and cat aficionado Mike Mitchell (Mitchell has 12 cats) took a well-deserved trip to visit family in Dallas this week with Ranch leading money winner Shannon O’Brien. Missing in action have been legendary whiting fisherman Sonny Wong and flounder pounding Dewey Jones. Spry octogenarian Will Armstrong, who made his fifteenth hole in one earlier this year, plans his return to action in the near future. Merry Christmas from the Ranch and don’t forget to help Santa with golf balls for your favorite golfers.

Thank you so much for including me in your report! It put a big smile on my face to receive such notoriety. I did enjoy that day and it was a pleasure meeting all of you. I look forward to returning, (of course after I fine tune my swing and deepen my tan), and giving all involved a run for their money.

Again, thank you and best wishes for the holidays!!
