Mitchell/Comeaux Combine Shuts Out Harrison

Dabney Harrison kept the white orb low in Tuesdays 9 hole challenge at the Ranch. With winds steady at 30 mph and gusting to 35, Harrison shot a 5 over par 32 that included a near-ace birdie on #8. Unfortunately for the Dabster, his 12 inch birdie putt went for naught when Michael Comeaux poured in a 15 foot birdie putt on top of Harrison’s to deny the Dabber a share of the skins pot. Head golf pro Mike Mitchell also had a rough afternoon in the windy conditions. Mitchell’s swing, modeled after Charlie Brannan’s nice move on the ball, kept him close to the greens but he couldn’t stay still enough in the wind to putt. The diminutive Mitchell fired six double bogeys, two bogeys, and one par. Mitchell’s sole par covered up Dabney Harrison’s par on #9, denying the Dabtician another skin. John Milby was second with a double bogey free 34. Comeaux tied Mike VanZandt at 35 for third place with David Buchanan one shot back at 36. Shannon O’Brien double bogeyed four in a row on his way to a career high 38 on the Mitchell/VanZandt designed yellow course. Robin Giddens kept the ball and his score high with a 39. A special thanks for Comeaux’s birdie and Mitchell’s only par came from lucky assed Mike VanZandt, whose par on number 5 was good enough for the only skin of the day, sending him to Island Liquor with all the cash in the skins pot. 2013-11-15
