PSP kicks off 2022 Flag Football season

Peninsula Sports Park kicked off the 2022 Flag Football season on Saturday at Gregory Park. The first game between the Tiger Sharks and Whale Sharks was a nail-biter with a 4th quarter extra point conversion securing the Whale Sharks the 28-27 WIN. Shout out to Ethan Smith from the Whale Sharks and Phoenix Huffman from the Tiger Sharks for earning Players of the Week!!! A big Thank You to Troy Casey and Adam Lee for coaching these littles…age 5-7.

Each week one of our Gold Level Sponsors will present Players of the Week and Week 1 is brought to you by:

The 8-10 year old division, the Man O’ Wars, coached by Billy De Wet and David Early are grouped together for practice and divided on game days to evenly balance the teams to better develop their basic skills and knowledge of the game. With several out sick this week, they played an exciting game of 5 on 5 with little MISS Charlie Litteken proving to the doubters that girls can in fact play football. Charlie was on fire earning her Player of the Week in her division!

Unfortunately, the flu took out too many of our 11-14 year-olds, so the Sharks and Killer Whales’ game has been rescheduled for this Friday, Sept. 30 at 6pm bringing some “Friday night lights” to Gregory Park…don’t miss it.

Laynee Barrow and her Cheer Team the “Flamingos” kept everyone’s spirit up all day despite the heat. Congratulations to Sammie Lee for being named “Most Spirited Cheerleader” for Week 1!

In keeping with the cheers, PSP would like to send out a big THANK YOU to Ray Huffman, Scott Kunz, and Mark Allen for keeping the time and downs and to Lynn Mlcak for being a fantastic League Coordinator. A very special Thanks to Savannah Frasier who donates her time as our Referee…not only for football but she is our Baseball Umpire as well, we are extremely excited she has joined our team, and the kids love her! Thanks again to all our Sponsors for making this Football season happen.

Games are scheduled every Saturday at Gregory Park at 11, 12:30, and 2 until November 19. We would love for you to bring your lawn chair and join us.
