It’s been a long time, but we finally got Her back. She had a bit of an accident on the way to Florida for Christmas. We kind of crippled our way for the rest of the trip from Mississippi to Tampa. She went in to see “the doctor” as soon as we arrived and stayed there. For a looooooooooooong time! We had a joyous Christmas with family and probably stayed past out welcome, but oh how lovely to be with family!
We had to rent a truck to get our stuff and our Maezy back home with us. Enterprise treated us royally! (Don’t tell Enterprise we had a DOG in their vehicle!) Our Chevy dealership kept contact with us all the way.
It’s been uneventful since we returned. One truck, a golf cart, and a friend loaned us his jeep. What else did we need? I’ve gained strength in my left leg to get into the passenger side of the truck and my right leg to get into the driver’s side. No problem, great exercise!
Our kiddos have helped with finding a shipping company to get Her home. Coincidentally, they happened to bring “Meals on Wheels” to us last Saturday. Pulled pork, potato salad, baked beans, slider rolls, and all the fixins’ for salad. That’s when the shipping company dropped Her off! Oh, what a thrill. I didn’t touch Her all weekend. Kind of like an old friend you’re afraid you won’t know anymore? She had a nail in one tire and it kept losing air, so my husband took her to our new tire shop – $20, removed nail, good to go.
I drove her home today from work. First time in over a month. Old friends, we picked up right where we left off. I know, it’s only a car. You can tell me that til the cows come home! But, you know, to me, She’s come home and I’m on top of the world!
