She sits in my lap as I write

By Georgia Osten
My Christmas present, Miss Maezy Grace In The Sky With Diamonds. She wants to cuddle and even though she’s only 6.6 lbs. and 6 weeks old, there’s not a whole lot of room on my lap, but she’s being very patient – she must know this story is about her. As many of you know, I lost my best friend, Ruby, on July 10th, she was tired of fighting, she was just tired. She was a good ol’ girl and I miss her terribly. My children planned and schemed for quite some time to find Maezy for me, they seemed to know just what I needed.

We ventured out in the downpour on Saturday to the Eagle Lake/Columbus area to pick her up. She had to leave her 6 siblings and Mom and Dad. On the way home, she nestled into my arms and fell fast asleep. She’s at home with us now. She loves her three new beds and her kennel – it’s her safe place. At night, she wakes around 2 am and then again about 5 am. We go outside, then play for about 30 minutes before she’s ready to go back to her safe place and sleep.

Everyone wonders why I wanted to go through the “puppy stage” again. There’s nothing like the bonding with this brand new little fuzz ball. Merry Christmas Ya’ll, I hope you’re blessed, I hope you’re with your loved ones, I wish you all wonderful things in the New Year! (2013-12-24)

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you.
