Summer Time – There’s Never a Dull Moment

By Georgia Osten
The “girls” had a fantastic time at Ms. Jennifer’s Oktober Project painting party the other night. Our subject was a flamingo, we thought up the eyelashes, I won’t tell you what the girls thought mine looked like, so I had to ask Ms. Jennifer to fix it for me.

Earlier in the week, we invited our neighbors over for a “sleep over.” We don’t usually have “sleep overs,” but this was a necessary event, they are plagued with mold in their house. Their whole floor is being ripped out. The first night, we started Mexican Train, we play a penny a point. Night One, and Game One, we made it from 12’s to 7’s. Everyone was pretty even. Night Two, Game Two, we made it clear to 0’s, I’ll have to admit I was the one racking up all the pennies.

Sunday rolled around, church in Galveston and then to Yaga’s to meet the Middles and their Mom. Michael and Dax came home with us (lucky us), it’s their turn. Addyson has volleyball camp all this week, lucky her. The boys brought all their legos, which are all over the dining room table now and some on the coffee table. Oh the energy level of a 6 year old and an almost 9 year old. Sometimes, it’s difficult to keep up. Last afternoon’s entertainment was the beach and boogie boarding, the waterslide this afternoon. Now, they’re out there helping PawPaw with the pool.

We had the slab poured last week, Saturday, the pool guys came to set up the pool. It filled for a day and a half. We realized it just wasn’t right, so Sunday and most of the day on Monday, we drained it, a hose running into the ditch. We need to extend the slab, so to speak about a foot for the uprights. That’s what the boys are doing now. Maybe we’ll get to begin filling it again this evening. The water company is going to love us!

It’s all good, the boys wanted to jump in Sunday, but we don’t have the salt and chemicals in yet. The pool toys should arrive today, maybe the fancy ladder/steps too. We’re ready for Anton to build our stairs from the upper deck to the pool deck.

All in all, the summer is going great, we’re excited to have our first pool party. Maybe in time for my birthday!

GO’s Sand Bucket is only one beach bum’s journal of life at the beach, probably something each of you can relate to. Please feel free to email me with your thoughts, visions and/or feelings of just exactly what the beach means to you. Email: [email protected]
