Take Me Out to the Ballgame

By Georgia Osten
Well, it’s been many years, but I’m happy to say we’ve seen another t-ball game. Over 30 years since our own kids played, then going through 8 grands, we’ve finally gotten down to the last two. In our lifetime, I imagine we’ll not see any of the great grands play. Heck, we don’t even have any great grands yet. We got to the ballpark around noon on Saturday to watch The Littles play, they’re actually The Pirates. Like “herding cats,” literally, these four-year-olds were all over the place. I was pleasantly surprised they had it so together though. Not one of them missed the ball off the T, and they knew where to run and to keep running!

At one point, Riggs was on second about to head to third when the ball came right at him, so he stopped to pick it up. Assistant Coach yelled “don’t touch the ball.” Oh well, Assistant Coach happened to be Riggs & Fisher’s Dad, Riggs immediately dropped the ball and continued on to third base.

At the end of the game, our Littles were honorably chosen to receive the “game ball” and the Pirates caps for the week until the next game.

After-game treats have advanced since our day. Used to be oranges and a capri sun. Saturday, each kid got a Happy Meal. Well deserved, I must say!
