Trials and Tribulations

This past week has been an adventure to say the least, especially for an old woman. Monday, two friends and I took off for Nacogdoches for some shopping. One reason, this town has several shops Lufkin or any other town does not have. All the way to Tyler we went. One is Kroger and Specs! You see, Angelina County is dry.

One of the fun adventures is finding a new place to have lunch. We lucked out again, in the same shopping center as Specs is an oriental restaurant called something Yummy Yummy. The Cashier at Specs suggested it. Of course, all three of us misunderstood exactly where this place was. Out of the shopping center we went, to our left and down the road, no Something Yummy Yummy. U-turn, and off we go past Specs and no Yummy Yummy this way either. Belinda, being the bright soul she is, picked up her phone and discovered that it was just on the left in the same shopping center. Sometimes you just need to laugh. Excellent food and we will go back again.

Tuesday and Wednesday I had doctor’s appointments in League City. I left Lufkin before the crack of dawn, back south on 59. I really think my car could take over and I could sleep all the way. I did not stay with the girls as both had enough without Mom, so I enjoyed myself at the hotel just next door to UTMB. Tuesday was way too busy, 10am to doctor, 2pm for haircut and 4pm for Apple store in Baybrook.

The haircut appointment was canceled as Susan was sick. So I went to Dianne’s to visit. Oh Boy, what a mess! They are having most of the house refurbished. Off to Apple. I must say, I’m way too old to try navigating that parking lot, UGH! Anyway, the reason for my appointment is my beloved RR. I have 10 pages of passwords for everything he had ever touched. The only one I did not have was the front screen of his laptop. You know, I took everything from the Will to the Purchase Receipt to prove who owned this machine. The other item I took was his phone to be changed to my phone as his is a 13 and mine is not. You would laugh if I told you how old mine is. I got there before 4pm and left after 6pm, my brain was fried.

Now, to the horror of the week. I was looking for a recipe online and hit a wrong screen. Looked like a good place to start, but it was NOT! My screen was locked and talking to me. It said Microsoft all over the pages with 1-800 numbers everywhere. Find the phone look up Microsoft and there is no such number. Call Dianne, help!! She starts looking in her system and said Mom do not touch any keys. Well, I am that smart, not much more, but I did not touch anything. We both started looking for the closest Best Buy and geek people. Really not good, Houston and Dallas are the closest. Called friends here in Lufkin and found a geek person. Down the road I go. I was held for ransom! Eric fixed the problem and I picked up the laptop the next day.

I have not left the house since then and started to hide under the bed and keep my hands off the laptop. Hope your week was more fun than mine.
