VanZandt Skins on Thursday; O’Brien Wins in Anahuac

The wind was the big winner Thursday at the Ranch. Mike VanZandt held on to win the Par 3 event by one shot over Michael Comeaux, Course Supt. Mike Mitchell, O’Brien and a few others. Five over par took home the title while several other golfers came in at 6 over. Friday at Anahuac Shannon O’Brien took low score with a 84, followed by Michael Comeaux at 86 and Mike VanZandt at 87. Dewey Jones couldn’t find the magic Friday but still managed a nice 89. Wes Weisinger joined the group in Chambers County for the first time in a while and hit many shots. Head golf pro Mike Mitchell, whose struggles on the links have been well documented in the Links Report, couldn’t overcome the dual nemeses of a balky putter and Blue Thunder still riding in his bag.
