Williams, Ferguson Carry VanZandt to Rare Sunday Win
Paul Williams and Lance Ferguson knew going in they had the weakest “A” player in the field Sunday, and compensated by lighting up the course with 4 birdies in the last six holes to edge Rene McFarland, Wes Weisinger, and Dennis Hobbs by one shot. Ferguson, on his first day back following hand surgery, was particularly keen with the putter, rolling in a short birdie on #4, a tough downhiller on #6, and a 25 foot snake on #8. Williams hit the last four greens in regulation and sank the final birdie putt on #9 to secure the win. It wouldn’t have been as close as it was had not Dennis Hobbs sunk a tricky 28 foot birdie on the second last hole to give his team a chance at tying VanZandt’s team. Unfortunately, their birdie chip from 30 yards out on #3 failed to find the cup, securing the loss. In third place at 34 behind a 30 foot eagle putt by Mitchell on # 9 were Dabney Harrison, Mike Mitchell and David Willis. Shannon O’Brien, Sonny Wong and the ghost finished at 1 under par with Mike Comeaux, Jason Pettit, and Will Armstrong one over.

Buchanan has Bogey-Free Round; Milby Wins
John Milby kept the ball low in the North winds Thursday at the Ranch shooting the day’s best round of 31 on the Shannon O’Brien designed Blue Par-3 course. Milby, who shares the Par-3 Course Record at 26 with O’Brien, birdied the 147 yard eighth hole for a skin. O’Brien cashed a skin on number 9. Mike VanZandt ballooned to the day’s high round of 38 with only one par (skin winning!!) on his card. O’Brien and Mike Mitchell shot 33’s. Dabney Harrison was seven over par with a 34. David Buchanan had a bogey free round with five pars and four double bogies to tie Mike Comeaux at 35. Improving Robin Giddens had a 36.

Buchanan Hits Eight Greens-Three Putts Four of Them
David Buchanan struck the offensive white spheroid beautifully Tuesday, November 5th at The Ranch in the 3:30 p.m. Par 3 Shootout. Buchanan hit eight of nine greens with his tee shots on the Yellow Course. His only missed green was by a few feet on the 5th hole. However, the Golf Gods rewarded his stellar iron play with an unusually balky flat stick as David three jacked four times on his way to a 5 over par 32. Golf is not a fair game. Perhaps David needs a putting lesson from erratic head pro Mike Mitchell or sweet rolling Charlie Brannan.

John Milby had five bogeys and three pars before birdieing #9 for a four over par 31. Tied for first was Mike VanZandt with two birds, two double bogeys, two bogeys, and three pars. Mike Comeaux’s bogey binge continued with seven 4’s, one 3, and a nice skin-winning birdie on the tough 8th hole. Lucky assed Shannon O’Brien won a skin with a par on #3 while on his way to a fat 7 over par 34 to tie Mike Mitchell. Robin Giddens, Wes Weisinger and Dabney Harrison also played.
