Welcome to the Sunshine State

By Georgia Osten
It’s a long drive, but when you’ve got tables, Christmas presents and the family canine, that’s the only way to go! We left after work on Friday because we’d already planned to stop about halfway. A few unexpected slowdowns along the way made our trip a bit longer than we expected. No problem, we found a Best Western in Gulfport, MS. Maezy was exhausted, thank goodness for the king size bed.

We left MS early Saturday morning and made it to Tampa by 7ish, just in time for dinner. What a joy to finally be here with our family for Christmas. We unloaded the car in a jiffy with all the able-bodied assistance. It didn’t take long for complete exhaustion to set in. After all, the time advanced an hour as soon as we hit Tallahassee. Looking forward to spending quality time with Moad 5!

Addyson and I ventured out the next day for Trader Joe’s, Publix and the liquor store. She’s the greatest navigator, plus she really knows her way around town. She went to her first formal on Friday night, we missed it, but she was an absolute doll!

It’s the countdown before Christmas, 5 more days, all these young’uns are excited. After all, that’s what Christmas is all about. It’s gonna be a cold one we hear. It actually turned a bit chilly here in the Sunshine State, 45 degrees this morning.

Y’all stay safe and warm!
