Come One Come All

By Georgia Osten
What a turnout this weekend! We set up over at The Big Store on Saturday to sell Texas Crab Festival Raffle Tickets for the golf cart. As in years past, the past couple anyway, Colby Walters donated a brand-new gasoline-powered Club Car. The raffle tickets go for $10 each or $100 for 11 tickets (buy 10 and get one free). The sales started out with a bang and didn’t let up until around 3pm when we decided to take our raffle over to the Eagles BBQ Cookoff at the Crab Fest Pavilion.

We had a variety of Crab Festival T-Shirts, all colors and sizes. The T-Shirt was designed by none other than our own Patty Hagstrom. Patty was the winner of the design contest this year. The caps, visors, tanks and tees flew off the shelves. When we’d run out of a size or color, one of us would run back home to stock up again and again.

Selling tickets and tees gave us an opportunity to see old friends we don’t usually run into and meet many new folks.

The BBQ was hopping when we got there. One of the Eagles took a stack of tickets and wandered through the crowds.

Sunday was just as successful. We got to The Big Store about 11 after we returned from Mass & breakfast over in Galveston.

We’ll be selling raffle tickets and T-Shirts every weekend before the festival and at the Festival. Hope you all come out Mother’s Day Weekend, May 10-12. Enjoy some great food and drinks and music. Wait ’til you see all the cool vendors we have! Lots of cool stuff at the Silent Auction. Stay for the Live Auction too! Larry “Big Daddy” will be our Emcee again, a laugh a minute.

You can’t miss the 2-Step contest Friday night and the Wiener races on Saturday. Big Bands, Gumbo Cook-Off, Crab Races, a Scavenger Hunt. You name it, there’s always something happening.

Come on out. Tell your friends. This is Crystal Beach’s finest event of the year. Three fun-packed days of excitement.
