Community Garage Sale

sale00The vendors began setting up for the Community Garage Sale this past Saturday, April 26th. By 6am, ten to twelve canopies, lined the parking lot at The Joe Faggard Community Center. The Garage Sale was managed, advertised and coordinated by AARP CHAPTER 1591 and their President, Donna Sims. The Bolivar Peninsula Lions Club gathered in the kitchen of the Community Building to prepare 120 breakfast tacos, cooked by Larry Campbell and assembled by Kathy Hammond, Mark Hunstiger, Georgia Osten, Brenda Flanagan and Mavis Hunstiger. As soon as the tacos began coming out, Mavis went out in the parking lot to give them away to the hungry crowd, compliments of CrystalBeach.com.

The big red fire truck from Bolivar VFD parked at the end of the picnic tables to begin cooking and selling sausage on a stick, a bag of chips, cokes and water. A big thank you to Tom and Cindy Berry for their generous contribution to the cost of the sausage.

The garage sale rocked on until 1pm and a tired bunch of sellers packed up what little remained. Everyone hopes for another sale, perhaps in the Fall. What a success … “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure!”
