Chili for Charity

chili_00Bright and early Saturday morning, the Chili Cookers began preparing for the 3rd Annual Driftwood Charity Chili Cookoff. As the Port Arthur Playboys entertained all with their rousing washerboard two-stepping and waltzing favorites, 19 teams gathered around the Sticker House under canopies. The bean bag game boards and washers were set out in the middle of the yard for young and old. The dance floor was hopping and tasters made the rounds to try all types of concoctions. The judging began around 3 pm, the winning team donated over $1900 to the charity of their choice, and everyone went home full of chili and good spirits. Another booming success – this neighborhood sure knows how to throw a fine party!

We are closing on our “new to us house” on Sandcastle in the next couple of weeks. Really looking forward to participating next year. Looks like a lot of fun.

  2. Everett Johnston says:

The Driftwood Chili Cookoff was only possible because of the hard work, time and effort of Jackie and Brian Sticker and Family. This was the 3rd year of the fund raiser and the biggest yet. Congratulations Jackie and Brian for a great success.
