Natural Beauty!

by Cindy Clay Srader
When it comes to beach living anything natural goes. Using Seashells, starfish, seaglass and driftwood as your ornaments will make your Christmas tree at your beach home one of a kind. If this is your first Christmas in your beach house, what a fun family activity to make your own ornaments. When I was growing up, flocked trees were all the rage. Since we are not likely to have snow here, using our own natural elements we have, make the most beautiful decorations. At the beach using a live tree and fresh greenery add to that natural feel. I love the overloaded look of this Christmas tree.

The ornaments are layered on with the Starfish being the last layer. As usual when you have nature out your front door the possibilities are unlimited. One of the best looking tree skirts I saw was made out of burlap. I think this year I am going to buy a couple of yards and just wrap it around the bottom of my tree. My life is always a work in progress. Hum, I guess I will just have to see what next year will bring! Happy decorating all!

HOW TO”…Make your own Christmas Ornament

When walking on the beach one of the most common shells is this small white ruffled edge shell. I love the way the shells are glued to a foam form (try saying that 5 times quickly) cupped outward. It reminds me of my favorite fir Christmas tree. Make them small and put several on your tree. Use a piece of seaglass for a topper! Beautiful! (2013-12-03)
