Now where did I put that?

Well, once again I found another way that when living full time in a beach home, which often means downsizing, finding extra space is a real plus. In many homes there is only room for one dining area, but by using this built-in dining nook you can actually have an eat-in kitchen and not lose a lot of space. Note how the space beneath the benches is used as drawers instead of the conventional flip up seats. These drawers are very deep but can be configured to store many things that you normally would not have room for. I love the bead board look in the space and if you would prefer, these benches can easily be upholstered! We used to see these breakfast nooks in older homes and I am glad they are making a comeback. Whatever your style, you can have these built-in to fit the look of your beach home. Old has become new again!

HOW TO” … “Find” the perfect piece of furniture!

Here is another project for junk yard/flea market finds. This is something that depending on what you find it can take on such a different look! This elevated elegant bookcase is actually made from a flea market short bookcase and French styled coffee table. When you attach these pieces and then paint them they have a completely different look. Now that short book case has graceful legs and with the addition of molding, looks like something you would purchase at a fine furniture store. Think about painting it a different color and it would take on a whole new personality! Learn to look at things with an out of the box sense. Have fun imagining what you can do! You can always say,” I did it myself”!
