Capture Rainwater at Home – Workshop

Galveston Bay Foundation (GBF) and the City of Nassau Bay are hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop on Saturday, October 5 from 10 am to noon at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Nassau Bay. Rain barrels are an efficient, low-cost method for collecting rainwater. They are placed at downspouts in order to catch rain and reduce runoff into storm drains, and the accumulated rainwater can be used for watering a garden or houseplants, among many other uses. Attendees at this workshop will learn the benefits of rain barrels, how to use them, as well as proper location and installation. This workshop is part of GBF’s efforts to reduce stormwater pollution, conserve water, and keep Galveston Bay fishable and swimmable.

Pre-registration is required. The cost is $25, which includes admission to the workshop, a 35-gallon recycled barrel courtesy of Coca-Cola, and a connector kit. To register, visit www.galvbay.org/rainbarrel. Contact Charlene Bohanon at 281-332-3381 for more details. Space is limited, so register soon! This project is funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
