See You At The Pole

By Linda Elissalde
See You at the Pole began with a small group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas who gathered for a DiscipleNow weekend in early 1990. It spread throughout Texas as many teenagers started similar prayer meetings at their schools. They chose to meet at school flagpoles and pray for friends, school and leaders. Eventually 20,000 students met in June, 1990 at Reunion Area in Dallas, Texas.

On September 12, 1990, more than 45,000 teenagers gathered at school flagpoles in four different states to pray before the start of school. In 1991 students from Boston, Massachusetts to Los Angeles, California, from North Dakota to the tip of Texas came together to pray. They prayed for their schools, for their friends, for their leaders and for their country. See You at the Pole has continued to grow. More than 3 million students from more than 20 countries around the world participate in the annual event at the start of a school year.*

A group of students from Crenshaw Environmental Magnet School met around their flagpole at 7:30 AM, September 27, 2023. Pastors Daniel, Kay Sims and Valerie Hudson were also in attendance. Pastor Daniel and various students prayed for classmates and friends during this school session. All joined together in a closing hymn.

Perhaps next year you will want to gather with students, ministers and friends at Crenshaw School. Maybe we will SEE YOU AT THE POLE in 2024.
