The Beat Goes On

By Georgia Osten
Well, yesterday (6.5.23) was my daughter’s birthday. Oh my goodness, me at the age of 24, quite a while ago, I gave birth to my first child. What a long ordeal, but what a thrill. I didn’t know a thing about children, I’m an only child, I had no siblings, I had hardly ever babysat, much less been around a baby. She, Leigh, was adorable, perfect, you might say. She took her sweet time to come along. I think I went to the hospital early on, only to be turned away, “they’re “braxton hicks,” whatever in the heck that was?? I was already 2 weeks past term, which, as it turned out, was normal for me.

She eventually came around a few weeks later. A long childbirth, but what a beautiful child. All 8 lbs. 6 oz. of her. I shouldn’t go on, not to embarrass her. Just want to mark this as a very special day in my life, one to be remembered. Happy Birthday Sweet Girl.

Did I tell you about my garden? It’s driving me crazy, but, every day, I go out there to pull those ungodly intruders, who have popped up uninvited. Well, I guess they weren’t uninvited, I did actually plant these bulbs I thought were lilies. They’re very hearty. Once I soak them and grab their stalk, they come up with a lot of trailing things, I’m sure I haven’t seen the last of them.

I’m on the edge of my seat as we speak. I’m so excited, I’m not sure I’ll get any sleep tonight. Tomorrow, PawPaw and I will go to Hobby to pick up three of our Grands. These being the Tampa kiddos. They’ve been in Tampa for over a year now, all going to a wonderful Catholic school. These are the kiddos recently returning to the US from Tel Aviv. We’ve spent as much time as we possibly can with them since they returned to the US. Can’t get enough!

So, anyway, they’ll be with us for the majority of June! We have many plans, including putting them on a parasail over the Gulf! What a thrill to see them. I hear they’re bringing their skateboards? Hope Hobby doesn’t mind a little skateboarding through the airport.

There’s never a dull moment when we’re with our Grands.
Happy Trails!
