The Things I Carry

by Emma Carnell
Everyone carries something different. People carry many things even if these things are not physical. They carry their life and their emotions. I carry things physically and mentally. I carry hopes and fears. I carry joy and thoughts. I carry softball stuff and school items. I carry my life.

I carry the hope that my uncle, who is in the Green Beret, comes home safely. I hope all of the soldiers around the world return to their families.

I carry the hopes of getting a scholarship for softball. I carry the joy and the pleasure of playing softball. I carry the thoughts of my family. I carry quite a few physical possessions as well. I carry the fears of failing a paper. I carry the fear of falling emotionally and not being able to get up. I carry my emotions. The laughter, the joy, the sadness, the pain.

For softball I carry my softball bag that contains my sunglasses, my gloves, my helmet, and my three bats. For school I carry my binder that holds my papers. My pencil and pens, and the junk that I don’t really need.

I carry my life. My life might be hard but it is what I carry every hour of every day for the rest of my life. This will be the one that I will always carry.

I carry a lot of things, physically and mentally. I carry hopes, fears, thoughts, and joy. I carry emotions. I carry my life, Everybody carries something different, I have not found that yet, but this thing is coming.
