Throw Back Thursday

By Georgia Osten
No, really, I know it’s not Thursday. Give me a break, I was having a hard time titling this one. When our First was 2 years old or so, everywhere we’d go, there would be a Yobie. I’ll explain what a Yobie is in a second. [First of all, after three children and eight grandchildren, within a span of 49 years … Geez, wait a minute, I had to order another drink!]

So, as I was saying, what we’ve noticed over the years, is the oldest child of each family seems to set the standard for the most unusual sayings. And, so the oldest of our children, Leigh, when something made her laugh, she replied “you make me fummy.” And, everywhere we went, the child had to use the restroom; we swore she was evaluating the restrooms (5-STARS’s). She had a blanket named Greenie. One night we asked Unkle Christ-O-Popper to babysit. He took her to the Bingo game at the old Crystal Beach Fire Station that night, but oops, they “gotfor” the Greenie.

Typical, Here I go, leaving the subject of this story. Growing up, Leigh, loved these:

This Yobie is at the Kroger in League City. This is a perfect example that prices can go down! I’ve never seen a child riding this Yobie. But If it were 48 years ago, I’d let her ride at least 10 times!
