BPCF Brings Sunshine!

By Linda Elissalde
Weather forecasters predicted rain for Saturday, April 15, 2023. However, those prognostications were proved wrong when BOLIVAR PENINSULA CULTURAL FOUNDATION (BPCF) held their SPRING ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR. It was a sun shiny day as copious numbers of shoppers came to support vendors and BPFC. Local charities, field trips, activities, lectures and future fairs receive monies from these fund raisers. September 16, 2023 is the date for BPFC’s Fall Arts & Crafts Fair. (Put that on your calendar right now.)

It takes a lot of time and work for such an occurrence to be successful. Gratitude goes to participating vendors: Texas Crab Festival Charities for the Pavilion, help with set up, break-down, wine donation, and FOE Eagles 3719 for delicious food including Mardie Wright’s yummy homemade Chile. Galveston Ukulele Society provided an ovation worthy performance. Those ladies led by Jack Johnson brightened up an already light hearted day.

Galveston County Sheriff’s Department always keeps us safe. Wonderful Officer Pena was back again this year. That man not only protects, but is a fine representative for his department.

Even more folk made raffle and event donations. Thanks to Del Papa Distributors for beer and raffle items, Patty Hagstorm for artful screen print, Glass Tattoo for Astros WS Champs panel, Salty Mermaid for Consuela Swag bag, Island Liquor for Liquor Basket and Sea Sure’s for solid Brass Nautical Light. BPCF Board gave Liquor and Wine Basket while members added Talavera Crab and Sun. More offerings came with Tia Juanita’s Gift Card, and Ange Scheibel’s Les Huckabay framed canvas photo.

Praise goes to Chairperson Elinor Tinsley and the great BPCF members who voluntarily donated their time and talents. Sincere thanks and deep appreciation for shoppers who came to support vendors and to those who purchased raffle tickets. This happy occasion closed with the announcement of raffle winners who will be notified.

All attendees were winners at the BPCF’s SPRING ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR “fun” fund raiser that brought sunshine to everyone.
