28th Annual Crab Festival in Crystal Beach

We hoped, we prayed all week. Every one of us looking at the long-range forecast weeks ago. Oh my goodness, is it happening again? The TEAM has been planning since before the first of the year on this; the One and Only Texas Crab Festival! So many of these guys and gals, The Team, have been coming together for monthly meetings, bi-monthly meetings, then weekly meetings and finally, every other day. The layout was new this year. Everyone poured their heart and soul into this. Typical, the week prior was B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Typical, getting closer to Friday, D-E-P-R-E-S-S-I-N-G! Typical, Friday night, misting rain, beginning around 11pm, breaking into a full-fledge thunderstorm light show!

Rain or shine, this show goes on … Come on, we’re tougher than that, right? We’ve been through a HURRICANE for goodness sakes! Saturday morning, a bit of picking up to do with the vendor booths and the grounds, some new canopies, some dirt spread (thanks to Brint), a lot of praying, the SUN came out and God smiled on us, providing a lot of warmth and light breezes. I hope you weren’t scared by the weather, hope you came on out to enjoy the fantastic music, Wayne Toups, Grammy Award winner, Ezra Charles, Ken Marvel, Still Cruisin’, lots of local bands on Sunday, which was free admission!

The vendors almost doubled from previous years. We had a Gumbo Cook-Off, Wiener Dog Races, Crab Races, a Washers Tournament, a fantastic Beer Booth…you name it. Tell your friends, DON’T miss this event next year, Mother’s Day Weekend! It’ll knock your socks off Y’all!

PS More to come as we edit and load all these pictures. We love ya – BOLIVAR IS BACK!

Bolivarians are survivors and the Crab Festival along with the Mardi Gras parade are outstanding proofs that “old Ike” did not win! We are so proud of Bolivar, Carlis and Charles Cole
