All creatures great and small

Bay Vue United Methodist Church honored pets with their annual Blessing of the Animals on October 14, 2018 in Fellowship Hall. All animals were welcome to attend no matter their faith, or lack thereof. What a joy to see those happy faces and wagging tails! Oh yes, and this year there was a new pet in residence. Terry Molloy’s parrot gave a “wolf” whistle every time a lady went by the cage. Pastor Valerie Hudson said that she quite liked this parrot.

George Strong and his fine canine Clinton joyfully greeted the congregation. The service started with singing “Happy Birthday” to that always young Edith Smith. She turned 94 on October 12. This was followed with “Happy Anniversary” to Barbara Perry and Cindy and Steve Wright. Rita Moseley read a beautiful thank you letter from Mary Raney. Pastor Valerie selected hymns and scripture that celebrated the beauties of our earth. She then went to each and every animal and gave them a special blessing. After praying for the pets inside, she went outdoors to bless the horses brought from Crystal Corral. Lisa and Ethan Stackpoole brought equines Hank and Princess Peach to the service. Refreshments were provided after the service. Humans ate people food while pets were served pet delicacies. The horses enjoyed munching on carrots and peppermints. It was indeed a most blessed experience.

“All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small. All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.”
