EXTRAORDINARY BAY VUE METHODIST WOMEN
By Linda Elissalde
If Bay Vue Methodist Women hold a Bake Sale, people will come. This year some arrived from as far away as Michigan. Art the Greyhound originally lived in Ireland. Bay Vue Methodist Women (BVMW) completed their most successful Bake Sale on May 11, 2023. It is no wonder their Bake Sales are successful. The homemade cakes, pies, cookies and other delicacies are always outstanding. This year BVMW President Elinor Tinsley planned and led a well-orchestrated production. Members stepped forward with more baked goods than ever before. Several ladies saw the advertisement on Facebook and added other delectable offerings. Oh, yes, the Bay Vue men assisted also. Pat Tinsley, Moody Fredenburg, Charles Moseley and Marcel Elissalde added much needed muscle. Miss Brelyne Bohannon, granddaughter of BVMW’s talented treasurer/secretary Sandi Covington, helped with labeling and moving the yummy products. Brelyne used her own money to purchase one of Elaine Rollfing’s famous cakes.

BVMW’s March Bake Sale garnered over $3000. For what is this earned largesse used? BVMW gives monthly snacks to Crenshaw teacher and provides a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. They purchase the Samaritan shoe boxes. The ladies fund Vacation Bible School bags, UMC church directories, provide love offerings for those in need and helped fund Bay Vue’s hotspot in the parking lot wi-fi. Because of their gift of chimes, the church now enjoy concerts by the Ding-ALings Chimes Choir. Texas A&M’s Wesley Foundation held a student retreat at Bay Vue and blessed the congregation with a wonderful musical service. Several BVMW members will travel to San Antonio to pick up a special bench and cobblestones created to honor Mary Raney. Mary was a beloved member of Bay Vue and worked tirelessly in the women’s group. She passed away April 1, 2022. A special spot is designated for this memorial.

Weather, dedicated volunteers, fantastic baked goods, and lots of generous customers added up to a BAKE SALE EXTRAORDINAIRE by those EXTRAORDINARY BAY VUE METHODIST WOMEN.
