Bay Vue UMC welcomed Dr. Richard White

United Methodist District Superintendent, Dr. Richard L. White, visited with members of BayVue United Methodist Church on the evening of November 13, 2012. Dr. White, along with District Leadership Team Chairperson Ken Lewis and District Lay Leader Chairperson Tom Abbage, spoke and listened to joys and concerns from the Crystal Beach church.

Ken Lewis led the group of 31 people in repeating THE LORD’S PRAYER. Dr. White expressed his belief in the qualities of love and forgiveness. Tom Abbage spoke of working together in a spirit of compromise.

Highlights of this meeting celebrated many successes of Bay Vue. Themes included the welcome extended to guests, plays, festivals, Praise and Worship Sunday Services, Vacation Bible School, and helping others. Concerns centered on financial obligations, the need for transparency in all transactions and congregational participation in the decision making process.

Members spoke freely on all issues. Dr. White proposed some positive ideas that included a stewardship drive. He concluded the evening with a reminder from John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Faith.

2. Do no harm.
3. Stay in love with God.

Pastor Marty Boddie and Bay Vue United Methodist Church are certainly grateful for an enlightening visit from Dr. White, Ken Lewis, and Tom Abbage.
