Blessing of the Animals at BVUMC

Bay Vue United Methodist Church was the gathering place for many a furry friend on Sunday, September 30th! This was BVUMC’s Second Annual Blessing of the Animals. Pastor Marty Boddie states, “God blesses us in many ways, and He certainly blesses us with animals.” His sermon was on Noah and the animals, “all these animals are the descendants of those that were on The Ark.”

Present for the ceremony were 28 dogs and their people. The cats decided to stay home to avoid a ruckus, but were offered a blessing nonetheless. Delicious treats were prepared and laid out for all the 2-legged, 4-legged and even one 3-legged Golden Retriever named Ruby.

Just in time for the blessing, came the equestrian showing! Six horses arrived with their riders, folks you’ve met from Crystal Corral. It was quite a trek for little Poopaleaux, the Mini, leaving Crystal Beach Road for the beach, then back up Mr. G to get to the church. All six were provided with a tray of snacks (carrots and apples) served by Linda Elissalde.

If there are no dogs in Heaven, then when I die, I want to go where they went.
Will Rogers.

Miss y’all so much. Bay Vue is one of a kind. I remember when my little “purse pal,” Panda Bear was the only regular 4 legged one who attended. I am sure many of you remember him from Celebration, Bible study and chuch services. He was Capt. Ace’s little buddy. He is still hanging out in my purse up here in PA in many unexpected places and goes to Church up here!!

That’s the best! I think they need a monthly meet and greet too! 🙂
